Consolidated list of suggestions

Hello, I thought I'd consolidate some of the suggestions that I've suggested in the Discord and what I've seen from others. Given the intention to close the servers down for 1 week, I think it would be good to consider and implement some of these ideas which I strongly believe would benefit the server. Throughout this somewhat lengthy document you will see me refer to player interaction and risk. I'd like to define these terms for those that may be illiterate, unfamiliar or simply new to the concepts:

Player Interaction:
This refers to any engagement between two or more players involving roleplay. This could be conversations, arrests, robberies shootouts etc.

Risk:
This refers to the potential loss, consequence or failure. This might mean being caught by the police during a crime, getting robbed by another player or simply crashing and exploding your vehicle.

Suggestion 1 - Reduce Map Size

Fairly self explanatory, it's a fact that there is a smaller number of players wishing to participate in Arma 3 Roleplay. Reducing the play area available increases player interaction and therefore risk. The server will feel much more alive with a reduced play area instead of spreading everyone across the vast map of Altis.

Storm has kindly created a picture of what this could look like: https://gyazo.com/e20525c43859a31b44d6a0765150ab97

I'd prevent any player from accessing the "inaccessible" area and prevent any properties from being purchased. Using the Arma 3 Editor, there is a tool to effectively hide all assets in an area which would remove all buildings. You could go a step further and damage players overtime for being in that area as some sort of radiation (as illustrated in the picture)

To summarise, this suggestion would do the following:
1. Increase interaction
2. Increase risk
3. Makes the server feel more alive

Please feel free to provide any objections to this.

Suggestion 2 - Reduce Player Activities

Following on from suggestion 1, a reduction in what players can do will further increase player interaction and risk. I agree it's nice that there is the option of doing all these runs and missions but it's not great when you don't see anyone. A slightly modified approach to this would be to consolidate all "mining" gathering points at the same location - perhaps the quarry just outside of Kavala. This would be materials such as iron, copper, diamond etc.

Suggestion 3 - Positioning & Timing of Runs

Instead of positioning gathering and processors in the middle of bum fuck nowhere, place them along main routes and roads to increase player interaction and risk. I'd say, no more than 1 - 2km from a main road with perhaps a few exceptions for a few runs. This would increase the use of trucks and land vehicles over the use of air vehicles. I'd argue that given the lack of players, runs should be quicker but less provide less value. This increases the possibility of player interaction and subsequently risk.

This suggestion requires a significant amount of planning involving spreadsheets. Given that the economy across several offsprings of the Reborn Framework have been abysmal, I'd say this could be one of the main features that improves it.

Suggestion 4 - Vehicles Destroyed

In an effort to increase risk, if vehicles are destroyed by crashing them these will be removed from your garage. This specifically nerfs the use of aircraft. Credit to GTA for this.

Suggestion 5 - Reviving

I would give credit to the individual who I saw post this in the Discord, but I couldn't find it nor remember who it was. In the even there are no medics online, players should be able to revive each other. This would come at a significant cost (whether the price of the defibrillator) or time cost in terms of travelling to a hospital with the incapacitated player to initiate the revive. There is an argument to be made that this reduces risk, I think a good balance and further thought is required.

Suggestion 6 - Stronger Criminal Punishments

Give the police increased scope and powers to inflict punishment on players that commit illegal activity. Some thoughts:

1. Mandatory vehicle crushing for any vehicles possessing illegal contents
2. Increased ticket/fine amounts for those possessing illegal contents. Perhaps a value based approach where the fine is 50% of the value of the illegal contraband.
3. Revocation of licenses. For example, the police can revoke your truck / pilot license if you've been using it for illegal purposes.

In my view, prison isn't a punishment. It serves little purpose. If there is the time and development resources, prison could be reformed to offer additional punishments instead of just wasting time.

Suggestion 7 - Remove Warzone

From server 1.. Server 1 should be the vehicle to generate funds necessary to fight on a Warzone server. Server 1 fundamentally must be roleplay server. Let's not intermingle the two into a single server. Players are able to join S1 in an effort to rob players, make money etc so that they can fund their PVP addiction on another server. I'm not a WZ player, I don't know if this is a controversial suggestion or not. I do however, feel strongly that it's impossible to please both simultaneously on one server and I think this could be the best way to balance it?

Its not an awful idea, but wouldnt work, there best of just either leaving the whole map or going to a different map to be honest.

Apologies in advance, the post has been updated quite significantly to include some other suggestions but you're referring to suggestion 1.

Can you outline some of the reasons you think it wouldn't work? Do you not agree that it'll improve player interaction and increase risk?

Everyone knows Altis and it's not behind a DLC like Tanoa (even though everyone should have Apex by now). Malden is a possibility too, but I don't know what people's opinions are on that. The changes to Altis isn't a novel idea, it has been done before on older smaller communities albeit not too the extent of the image provided.
