Next Level Gaming Community Rules

NLG - Rules - 21.03.25

Initial launch rules

Thank you for visiting our server rules page. You have successfully completed the first step to becoming a respected member of our community. We are a serious role-playing community and our server rules are a crucial part of playing on our game-servers. They are what separates our server from all others, therefore we expect you to take the time to read through the rules and to obtain a working knowledge of them. Each rule applies to every member that is part of our community.

If you catch any player breaking any of the rules listed below, please try to have a word with them before reporting it on the forums. Resolving issues saves staff and yourself time. If you are unable to resolve an issue with a fellow player, you should place a report on our forums.

Have common sense. If you are unsure whether or not something is allowed then you should ask a staff member for their opinion.

2 - Altis Life General Rules

2.1 RDM:

Random Deathmatch is not permitted. RDM is shooting and/or killing another player without the prior engagement of Roleplay. You must give the other party enough time to comply with your demands.

2.2 VDM:

Vehicle Deathmatch is not permitted. VDM is using your vehicle to harm others, whether this is by running them over, ramming their vehicle and/or attempting to create chaos. Vehicles classed as MRAPs are allowed to ram each other while in an active RP/Combat situation. Brake Checking and Desync Ramming will also be classed under this rule, therefore they are strictly not allowed.

2.3 Combat Storing:

Storing money, vehicles, or gear while an active RP situation is ongoing for the purpose of preventing the opposition from getting their hands on it. If no RP has been declared but you are being followed clearly, you may not store money, gear, or vehicles. When being chased by Police you may not do any of these either. Driving a vehicle into the water for the prevention of it being robbed, This is also classed as Combat Storing.

2.4 Combat Spawning:

If your faction/gang is involved in an active combat situation, you may not spawn within a 3km radius of that situation.

2.5 Sling-loading:

Sling-loading is at your own risk, no compensation will be given for anything related to sling-loading;Sling loading a vehicle is a one-way initiation, meaning the owner of the vehicle and his fellow gang members may shoot the player (attempting to) sling load the vehicle and said player's gang.

2.6 Combat Logging:

Logging off at any point during an active roleplay situation or firefight is considered combat logging. If your game crashes you need to contact an admin straight away, failure to do so may result in a ban. You may also not log on to the server with the direct intention of joining a combat situation.

2.7 Baiting:

Baiting people into a situation with the intention to just kill them is not permitted.

2.8 Soft Logging:

Logging out of the game and logging back in within 15 minutes to a different location. (E.g. Logging out in Kavala and then spawning in Athira)

2.9 Metagaming:

Metagaming is using any out-of-character knowledge to your advantage in a Roleplay/Combat situation.

2.10 Powergaming:

Powergaming is defined as Using mechanics or roleplaying mechanics that do not exist, to take advantage over the other party.

2.11 Armed Vehicles:

Armed Vehicles have specific rules around them please read below.

  • 2.11a - Pawnee - The Pawnee can shoot at air vehicles and MRAPS when initiated it must not be used to fire at ground targets.
  • 2.11b - Armed Hellcat - The Armed Hellcat can shoot at air vehicles and MRAPS when initiated it must not be used to fire at ground targets.
  • 2.11c - Ghost Hawk - The Armed Ghost Hawk can shoot at anyone firing a primary weapon at the heli, all armed vehicles, MRAPs and air vehicle targets as long as prior initiation has been made.

3 - Roleplay

3.1 Always Roleplay

On our server, you are required to stay in roleplay at all times, breaking roleplay ruins the fun for everyone in that situation, and even those just listening.

If you need to talk to the person outside of roleplay, wait until the situation is over, then contact them politely on TeamSpeak or via side chat and just say “do you mind if we have a chat about what just happened”.

If you are quite angry, we suggest taking a small break before contacting them to calm down so the resolution is more civilized, there are always members of staff available to assist you with a resolution if needed. Demanding “TS NOW!” will probably get you kicked.

3.2 Restraining & Zip Ties:

If you have been restrained or detained, you must broadcast your communications through direct chat until your radio has been removed from you in roleplay. At this point, you are no longer able to use any communication to contact your friends or gang members, This includes: group chat/teamspeak/skype or any other way of communication.

3.3 Questionable subjects:

Roleplaying of questionable subjects like real life terrorism or questionable subjects like rape will not be tolerated if requested by someone involved to stop.

4 - Initiation Of Roleplay

4.1 A valid initiation needs to contain the following things:
  • Clear instructions
  • An audible threat
  • Time to respond
  • This can be anything from, telling someone to leave, telling them to get out of a car, telling them to drop something or telling them to put there hands up etc etc.
  • The instructions you give must be physically possible, no telling them to hop on one leg, or telling someone to put their hands up when they are in restraints/in a vehicle.

  • The Clear part means no rushing the words, IE if a vehicle is driving past don’t try and rush so they hear you, this is poor RP, just keep chasing and wait for a better opportunity.

  • Remember, it is your responsibility to ensure they have heard your Instructions, It is always best to repeat yourself multiple times.

  • A Visible AND Audible Threat

  • This is really simple, A Visible threat is you or your gang mates pointing a gun at someone's head, If you are telling someone to do something with a gun in their face they better comply. An Audible threat is just that, “or I will Kill you”, “or I will taze you”, “or I will knock you out”, make sure if giving an Audible threat you stick to what you say, If you threaten to taze someone then lethal them this is Poor RP, same goes if you threaten to punch someone and then you shoot them, expect a ban. Time to respond

  • This is very simple, a rushed initiation is a bannable initiation. Always give them more than enough time to complete the Instructions you gave, “but they were in a car” is not a valid excuse to say something and then instantly shoot. Initiating on Tyres

  • Police have the ability to initiate on tires, this will normally then turn into a 2-minute chase, but that is not a server rule, it is a Police rule to where possible encourage a police chase. It must follow the above initiating rules, so it must be clear instructions, must be an audible threat (i.e. “or I will shoot your tyres”), and there must be enough time to respond to the instructions. If the police initiate on tyres and end up shooting a passenger then the officers must fully comp, failure to do so will result in admin action being taken. Returning Fire

  • So, when can you shoot back,

  • This is where poor RP comes into play, If the police have initiated on tyres, you can not shoot until either you have completed a valid initiation or the police have opened fire on your vehicle. Where possible you should also counter initiate, as instantly opening fire when someone initiates can be classed as poor RP. Driving around someone intentionally waiting for them to get annoyed and initiate on you, so you can jump out and kill them/get your gang to kill them is poor RP. Just think of it from the other side, if you asked someone to put their hands up, and the moment you finish talking they 1 tap you.

  • 4.2 When a player is killed and then revived by a medic, said player must re-initiate role-play before firing at anybody.
4.3 Using a helicopter to clearly block the path of another helicopter taking off is classed as one-way initiation. Players that are in the same gang as the pilot of the helicopter being blocked are allowed to open fire on the helicopter that is blocking the path and the gang members of the pilot blocking the path.
4.4.1 You may initiate on air vehicles by pressing ‘Alt+1’ or ‘Alt+2’ , after a reasonable amount of time, if the player hasn't left the area or landed, you may kill anyone inside of the air vehicle.
4.4.2 Players may find out the identity of the pilot in flight to send them a text message containing some form of initiation via the message system. If you are to initiate on a player flying a helicopter, you are not allowed to shoot the player's gang members outside of said helicopter, but they are allowed to fire at you.

    5 - Factions

    5.1 Distributing Equipment:

    Distributing Police equipment is forbidden.

    • Police and Ion may not sell their equipment,
    • Willingly give their equipment away.
    • If there is a strong roleplay cause, exchanges can be made,
    • Abusing the free gear system for police is strictly forbidden.
    • Equipment is not to be used by people if you are not whitelisted for it (This includes dog tag shops for factions).
    5.2 Clothing:

Police, Medic and ION clothing may not be given to or worn by civilians.

  • Civilians/Rebels may not demand them to drop their uniform, however they can demand them to drop their vest and hat.
  • 5.3 Combat Reviving:

If there is combat or shots have been fired within the last 3 minutes, Medics and Officers are not allowed to revive anyone

    5.4 Hostility Towards Medics:
    • Medics cannot be robbed,
    • Killed
    • Taken hostage for any reason.
    • Medics are also not permitted to rob,
    • Kill or take someone hostage,
    • However medics should be following the orders of the dominant party.
    • You can however kill a medic if they refuse to leave or you send warning shots and they continue to revive.
    5.5 Single Officer:

If there is only a single officer online they may not be robbed or taken hostage.

    5.6 Camping:

Police & ION are not permitted to "Camp" Rebel/Illegal areas for any longer than 10 minutes.

5.7 PCSOs are Officers under training they are not to be taken as hostages. If you find yourself taken as a hostage at these ranks: Inform the person that they cannot detain you at this rank.

    6 - New Life Rule

    6.1 NLR (New Life Rule):

This rule states that once you die in an active Roleplay situation, you may not return to that area and continue in the same Roleplay situation.

    • You may not come back for any vehicles or gear.
    • You may remember your gang members/friends
    • You may not remember your old Enemies
    • You may not remember what happened in your previous life.
    • You may not use your knowledge of what happened to influence the new situation.
    • You may not return to within 1km of your death for at least 15 minutes.

Exceptions: When you are RDM'd, VDM'd or you die due to an in-game glitch.

    • You may return to the area.
    • You may retrieve gear and vehicles.
    • You may remember what happened previously.
    • You must record this incident to avoid a ban (Prove your innocence).
    6.2 Value of Life:

At all times you must value your life as if it was your last if you're at a clear disadvantage, for example,

    • 3 rebels aiming at you while you are in a car
    • a gun pointed to the back of your head whilst you're looking the other direction,
  • You must comply with their demands,

  • Use common sense. ie,
    • No 180ing people as this would not work in a real life situation

    7 - Coloured Zones

    7.1 Green zones:

Green zones are not safe zones, this means you can preform illegal activities in it, However there are some restrictions

    • You are not allowed to kidnap or rob police officers inside green zones or their immediate area, as the green zones are where the police mainly does its work.
    • Initiations are single based only what this means is when one player initiates on another player it counts as single initiation, but when police initiates on said player all police are initiated.
    • Initiations made outside of the green zone can be carried into the greenzone
    • Rebel MRAP’s and Armed Vehicles are not allowed to enter the green zone
    • Green zones are no-fly zones. If you are flying in a green zone, the police are allowed to shoot you down unless you have been granted specific permission to land there.
    • Medics are allowed to fly in green zones, as some hospitals are within these limits.
    • You are not allowed to take or hold a player hostage while inside of the green zone, However you are allowed to restrain them and move them around within the green zone and not out of it.

7.1.1: No Robbing Starred Players in Greenzones

If a player has a star icon above their head and is located within a designated Green Zone,

    • They cannot be robbed, kidnapped, or engaged in hostile actions.
    • This includes all forms of aggression such as initiation, threats, or intimidation.
    • Greenzones are safe zones and are meant to be secure areas regardless of a player's status.
    • Law enforcement may still detain or arrest wanted players within a Green Zone, if done peacefully
    7.2 Blue Zone/Orange Zone:

  • Also known as the Police Zone.

  • This area is marked in Blue. Anyone is permitted to retreat to a blue zone, this is a police station and anyone should be able to seek the protection of the police, rebels are not permitted to chase them in there to get their friends back, same as the green zone no killing, shooting or crime of any kind is permitted in this zone, if rebels want to attack request it from an admin (you need valid reasoning, not just "we want too").

  • Any officers found abusing the blue zone will be banned for exploiting.

  • e.g. running in and out for a gun fight

  • When the police zone turns orange you are no longer permitted to crush/impound/store vehicles or send people to prison in that HQ until it turns back to blue.

  • You must have a valid reason to start an assault on the Police Headquarters, such as;
    • Reclaiming organisation vehicles that the police have taken
    • Freeing members of your organisation from questioning/police custody
  • This is not an option purely because you want a gunfight with police.
    • Police must not block entrances and must leave any lockable door/gate unlocked.
    • All police defending the PD must be inside the zone.
    • Rebels attacking must only shoot from inside the zone once it goes red.
    • NLR does apply to a HQ raid for both parties.
    You may not return.

  • When a war zone spawns over a blue zone (I.e. Pyrgos Blue zone) All Redzone/War zone rules will be in effect and will overrule blue zone rules. This will apply until the War zone has ended (any current combat in a blue zone MUST stop immediately)
  • 7.3 Red zones:

Red Zones are located around the Island at different locations

    • If you have been fighting inside of the zone, any group you have been fighting with may follow you out of the zone and keep on fighting until the situation is over IE you can not escape them
    • You do not need to initiate in a Redzone
    • VDM rules still apply in a Redzone
    • NLR does not apply in Redzone
    • You must be within the Redzone to be part of any activity relating to the Redzone IE you can not shoot inside of the zone from outside of the zone
    • If you have been fighting inside of the zone any group you have been fighting with may follow you out of the zone and keep on fighting until the situation is over IE you can not escape the fight just by leaving the Redzone
    7.4 Yellow zones:

Yellow Zones are located around Majors

    • If you want to perform a Major you should expect cops to be turning up as soon as you start it.
    • You should expect a Police Negotiator and he should be Unarmed and he’s not to be killed (Refer to Section 9)
    • As long as anything has been placed on the safe of any Major Negotiations are automatically are off, Allow the negotiator to leave.
    7.5 Black zones:

black zones are located at ION Headquaters, rules for this are similar to green zones, however, ion may transport suspects within these during an active situation.

    • You are not permitted to block the entrance to the black zones, this is because within the confines of RP the headquaters is always manned and such an action can not occur.
    • You are not allowed to camp outside the blackzone with the intention to rob/harass/kill ION at any time.
    • You are allowed to raid a black zone within a reason a staff member must be contacted in order to plan the raid
    • If you have prior initiation when ION enter a Black zone and they have knowing moved the situation inside of the black zone you may start a raid without needing to inform staff
